by the way, i was reading all u said... yes, i agree with charlotte and patrick about the news about ireland all over the world. when papers talk about the IRA they express it as terrorism, which is quite different. but if thats what tv give people just eat and know that. oh, by the way, brian talked about spanish, i don't agree they have heart or soul, did britts have heart with u? have nice christmas holidays. and best wishes for ireland next year. |

twas the night before christmas |
Written by [email protected]. (24/12-2002) |
Twas the night before Christmas And all thru the land Old Santa was drinkin And dancing with the band His laughter got hearty His nose began to shine "One more pint o guiness And I should be fine" He thought of his mission To fly round the world The sides of his smile Had started to curl To start over Ireland And visit each Pub And cafe and pool hall And dance hall and club To bless all the children The fathers and mothers The brothers and sisters The fighters and lovers The thought of this night Over Ireland would be grand But first, one more pint And a jig with the band Whos is that standing there Over by the fire Well glory be praised Its Mary McGuire Shes checking out Santa With Mistletoe raised The last time he saw her It lasted for days A wee kiss and a wink And off to his sleigh He knew he would see her On some other day You could hear Santa yell As he disappeared from sight "Merry Christmas to ALL And to ALL, a very IRISH night" MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE Long live Ireland Patrick |

New webpage |

Good news folks, I have registered the website www.giveirelandbacktotheirish.com The site should be up in a week or so. Any ideas, statements, photos, or humor, tell me what you would like to see on it. Perhaps a section with an interactive "Boot England out of Ireland "game. Perhaps a section of photos of Ireland and its people. Definately a "I bet you didnt realize" page including truths and fictions. I am pretty excited about this. Give me some ideas as far as a front cover page to this site too. Maybe a picture of the the Queen signing the declarations page (much like the famous picture of the Japanese surrendering WWII). I would like your input. After all, this is IRELANDS webpage. Long live Ireland Patrick |
To Brian |
Written by BigPat. (24/12-2002) |
Brian, You're getting hung up on language. The dictionary definition (my dictionary anyway!) of "denounce" is 'To condemn openly as being evil or reprehensible.' That is what I say about the violent approach. I condemn it, openly. I say it's evil. Now if that sounds weak or fearful to you then I'm sorry. But my position on this couldn't be stronger, nor do I feel afraid to state it and to clarify it. I want no part of the violence. It hasn't worked in Iraq, China, Bali, Santiago or New York. It's not working in Palestine and the wedge that is being driven between ordinary Moslems and Jews, most of whom just want to get on with their lives, is the one reason why they cannot. There's no reason to believe this approach will be any more successful in Ireland. I don't utterly condemn those who have died, honestly believing in their cause, over the years. Many were unquestionably patriots, but the world is a different place in the 21st century. The non-violent options now have a greater chance of success, particularly if we can start to persuade some of the wavering loyalists that they have nothing to fear from a 32-county state. Like it or not, British public opinion is vitally important in this. Think back to the Land wars. Most Brits don't understand the Irish "problem" and don't care any more than they don't understand (or care!) why Bush and Blair want to bomb Iraq but ignore North Korea. The section of British public opinion that does know and care wants Ireland united, principally because they know what a drain Northern Ireland is on the UK economy. This attitude is hardening in our favour and these are the cards we should be playing. But a resumption of violence, "stingers up some horse's ass?" will quickly swing things the other way. Can you imagine the British reaction if soldiers and politicians start arriving home in body-bags again? It would set up back thirty years. Please, think about what you advocate. |
