| The fact of the matter is that EVERYTHING about the "GOOD FRIDAY AGREEMENT" was a joke. This is where YOU are mistaken.... The British have NOT kept up THEIR "promises". That is why the IRA has re-instated their original goal. The cease fire is no longer. Now, why would any NATIVE (republican) of Ireland lay to rest our arms and show "good will" to a government that has oppressed us and continues to do so? To live in Ireland and "claim" to be British is like asking me if I would just shoot you. What about voting rights? Do you think its fair that each Protestant counts as a single vote while each Catholic "family" counts as a single vote? Stop avoiding MY question.... | its seems patrick we are getting nowhere with all this. ill put forward an idea. You talk of all the towers and cameras. it seems to me that the british are giving some of what you want. There is dismantleing of towers happening, the police is changing, the british army presence is diminishing, there are 50/50 human rights legislations, there are equal opertunities and i do accept that some day there will probably be a united ireland. If all these concessions are being granted why wont republicans disarm and show some goodwill to the process. dont you agree this is all going one way? Lets face it. If the republicans dont get everything their own way the private army will be called upon again. There has to be some comprimise! It would be very hard for the British government to go back on any promises if the republicans disarmed. And why are Sinn Fein so worried about sanctions being imposed if they go against any agreement that might be made this week. Ill tell you why! the british will keep their part of the deal and are'nt worried about sanctions. The Sinn Feiners dont intend to and never will keep their part of the bargain, thats why they're afraid of sanctions! Now can you reluctantly see why so many unionists dont trust republicans, they show no good will. I prey some day they will. Of course it cant be denied that britain invaded ireland, and attrocities have occured - but its not all one sided. the situation is that over half a million unionists live in this country and some of the concessions have to go their way as well! its called comprimise. |

| Let me get this straight. In one breath, you say that we dont honor the Irish that died fighting the nazis. In the next breath, you say that the Irish wouldnt fight the nazis. I would have to assume that the Irish during WWII were taking the same stand then as they are now. Its not their war, and its a senseless one. Besides, they have been busy fighting their own war for over 800 years. Speaking of which, What do you think the REAL fighting is all about in Ireland? If you say its about religion, I feel sorry for you. The fact that England used "divide and conquer" techniques to do her dirty work explains alot. As far as religion is concerned, It makes no difference to me if you are Catholic or Protestant. I personaly am a Protestant and my wife happens to be Catholic. It just doesnt matter. What matters is that the people of Ireland have been oppressed long enough. Its easy to look down your long nose at people from a part of the country that you didnt help steal and pontificate about how everything is fine and dandy even though the cameras arent looking into your home and the military isnt harrassing you at every chance. What the British are doing to Ireland has been and always will be an attrocity. We have just stopped trying to put up with the stench. Its time to flush the stink back to England. | Stumbled across this site by accident looking for some lyrics. Must say, I never understood why both sides of the divide couldn't just bury the past (like you have buried the many innocents caught up in your troubles). Having read the messages posted on this site I now consider myself a little more educated in your problems, and more importantly, the reason why your troubles are so far from being resolved. You have too many people that are fired with hatred and cannot draw any common ground. The majority in the north want one thing, the south the other. You can't resolve your differences through fighting, nor through politics. Put it behind you for the sake of your children. Live with what you have. | in some ways youre right, im irish and im glad i didnt live when priests and nuns had such a grip on us. i cant wait until ireland is united but i also agree it should only be when a majority up north want it, and youre right again when you say the IRA get too much support in the republic, and i can assure you i will never vote for jerry or martin, being a christian id never put murderers in government with their private army. And how many protestant/british friends do you have patrick? |

| sorry patrick, you still havent answered many of my questions, like why the irish didnt help the rest of the world fight the nazis. see, your still so caught up in the anti british thing. im not going to lie about being unionist and believe it or not i really dont hate irish people. i have lots of catholic/irish friends, how many british/protestant friends do you have? what i hate is the fact that so many republicans live the high life using our institutions and benefits. dont forget the irish parliament basically mirror any legislation the british write. first england have legislation, then n.ireland, scottland and wales. And guess what happens then. Thats right, the good old irish copy it, guess that saves youse billions in formulating any good ideas of your own. like i said i dont hate the irish people, but some of the ideas that have been institutionalised in youse are so fucking backward. And lets face it, the republic has been so backward untill recent years, the chappel has had such a grip on youse for years only now are you realising you dont need priests and nuns to be saved, and the very priests and nuns you worshiped for so long have been shamed with numerous scandals. And why does the IRA get so much support down there. If all they did was blow up soldiers and police you could say theyre fighting a war, but they purposely target the innocent also. And i do realise loyalist paramilitaries target the innocent too, but do the british people support them the way the IRA gets support from the irish. I think not. !!!!!!! if you can prove me wrong on any of the points ive made here, id like to hear it! and i draw you to the point my friend paddy has made below, when majority in the north want united ireland, so be it, so until then fuck up!! if you love ireland so much dont come up here.
