REMEBER MAY 8TH 1987
I've sung so many songs of fallen heroes I really thought I had said it all But if a song can fill our hearts and rise our spirits We will sing about our martyrs of Loughgall Well the Irish nation bowed its head in sorrow Such sadness this country has seldom known For Monaghan has lost a gallant soldier With seven more from green Tyrone Oh England do you really think it's over? If you do you're going to have to kill us all For until you take your murderers out of Ireland We will make you rue the blood spilled at Loughgall It was on a warm and misty Friday evening The scent of apple blossom filled the air That village street seemed quiet and deserted but hidden eyes were watching every where Oh the digger bomb had only reached its target The trap was sprung and gunfire filled the air The SAS did not want any prisoners Shoot to kill their orders were quite clear Oh England do you really think it's over? If you do you're going to have to kill us all For until you take your murderers out of Ireland We will make you rue the blood spilled at Loughgall Well they butchered eight brave volunteers that evening they were kicked and punched in case they were not dead They dragged them up and down that Armagh village And filled their bodies full of British lead Did you think it would teach us all a lesson? At such savagery the whole world was appalled Oh don't you know that there are twenty more men waiting For every one you butchered at Loughgall Oh England do you really think it's over? If you do you're going to have to kill us all For until you take your murderers out of Ireland We will make you rue the blood spilled at Loughgall Farewell to Paddy Kelly and Jim Lynagh no more you will lead your gallant unit forth Side by side with Padraig Mc Kearny and Tony Gormley you died to drive the British from the north Declan Arthurs and youthful Seamus Donnelly on that night you were the youngest of the all Gerry O'Callaghan and the gallant Eugene Kelly Oh your blood still stains the pavement at Loughgall Oh England do you really think it's over? If you do you're going to have to kill us all For until you take your murderers out of Ireland We will make you rue the blood spilled at Loughgall TIOCFAIDH AR LA best wishes from germany |

THX for the nice welcome.
here is another very nice song of eire og. Say hello to St. Pauli, say hello to the Celts Say hello to St. Pauli, for we are the best of friends Oh, ah, up the Celts, oh, ah, St. Pauli Oh, ah, up the Celts, oh, ah, St. Pauli In the year of our Lord 1995, from the sweat Glasgow town we set sail With a cargo of near 80 gallons of beer singing: Tiocfaidh r L and Hail Hail Now the Celtic Boys came by bus and by plane to see St. Pauli in Hamburg And soon we all knew it fine it would be party time so we startet as soon as we landed Singing: (Chorus) Oh, ah, up the Celts, oh, ah, St. Pauli Oh, ah, up the Celts, oh, ah, St. Pauli Well we went down the town with the white and the brown in the morning to see what can be done In our masses and throngs, singing rebel songs and the german boys knew every one And then on to Millerntor we didnt mind the score, and when the football was over going down the Reeperbahn we fixed up our plan and pretty soon not one of us was sober We sang: (Chorus) Now St. Pauli Fans are renowned at Celtic Park, our home their fans come to watch Celtic play, In Parkhead an Bairds, and in the Brazen Head, St. Pauli Fans are welcome everyday So fascists beware, take us on if you dare, but youll see there is nothing surer, St. Pauli and the Celts is simply the best ! We are the greatest supporters in Europe ! We sang: (Chorus) Well we spent all our time drinking Lager, Schnaps and wine from jugs, bottles, cans and from glasses Then a shout went up loud that some of our crowd had encountered some bother with nazis And down in the docks the scum got a shock, we fairly turned them over That was the end of our stay, here in St. Pauli, for we all got deported to Dover. And we are still singing: (Chorus) 2x |

Oh, for heavens sakes.
The first song IS NOT BY EIRE OG!!! My father, a member of the Irish Brigade, wrote The Loughall Martyrs. I was in the room when he did. Eire Og repeatedly steal/claim copyright from my father's band, THE IRISH BRIGADE, and from my mother, who is credited as McNally on all Irish Brigade albums for which she wrote songs. In fact, Eire Og steal and claim copyright from many others too. I'm getting fed up with having to constantly correct this. Simply put: Eire Og write songs along the lines of "Go on home British Bastards" (although, that's probably stolen too). When it comes to beautiful, moving ballads, like those written by the various members of the Irish Brigade, I can assure you they've stolen them. They even claimed that they wrote "The Ballad of Pearse Jordan"...having never met the guy. I was brought up with Pearse. His parents are (and have been for more than 25 years) close friends of my parents. This is my first look here in ages... I wonder how many more songs Eire Og are claiming as their own? |

Well, it's a very serious acusation. But many of rebel songs can be considered as in some way traditional and many bands are playing them. And a large number of such songs is to say "Go on home British" in more or less polite way. When the song "celtic and st. Pauli" is concerned... today Celtic Glasgow is playing the match in the town I live. But unfortunalety it isn't transmitted by any tv and I couldn't go and see. But the song itself is very joyful and always make me smile when I listen to it. I like Eire Og's songs most becouse of the voice and a way of singing of Gary. And the well-known songs played by them are much more "rebel" then in other versions. What I like the most. |

Firstly let me start by saying that nowhere in TW's post does he say that "The Loughall Ambush" was written by Eire Og. He makes the statement in his second post " here is another song by Eire Og" (which incidentally is one of our songs). At no place on this website, or another website, or anywhere else in print or audio will you be able to back up your allegation. I do not , nor does any other band member claim to write songs that we have not. In fact your mother is credited on the back cover of my cd "Live in Glasgow" as the author of the song Pearse Jordan. If I wanted to dupe people into thinking I wrote the song, why would I credit your mother with the song? It also seems that you misunderstand how the whole process of copyright works. I cannot steal, even if I wanted to, the copyright of a song that does not belong to me. On no ocassion have I attempted to steal copyright, again another baseless accusation on your part. The song "Go on Home British Soldiers" was in fact written by a fella named Tommy Skelly who played with the band "South Dublin Union", a very nice man whom I had the pleasure of playing with in Glasgow on a couple of occassions. Again, nowhere have I claimed I wrote this song. On a final note, let me finish by saying that I have nothing but respect for the "Irish Brigade", their music and songs included. I know each member of the band personally and have done so for a number of years. However, I won't allow you to spread unfounded and un-true allegations against me and my former band mates. Especially without a hint of proof or evidence to back it up. Best Wishes Gary Og |

Well said Gary, it was a serious allegation indeed. I think nipped in the bud now though.
Here's a nice wee ballad and I don't give a monkeys who wrote it, I just love it. IN THE GALTEEMORE MOUNTAINS SO FAR FAR AWAY I'LL TELL YOU A STORY THAT HAPPENED ONE DAY TO A FAIR IRISH COLLEEN, HER AGE WAS 16 AND IT'S PROUDLY SHE CARRIED WHITE, ORANGE AND GREEN. A BOLD ENGLISH BOBBY BY CHANCE PASSED THAT WAY SAYING "WHO IS THE MAID WITH THE COLOURS SO GAY"? WITH A SMILE LIKE A SNEER HE JUMPED OFF HIS MACHINE DETERMINED TO CAPTURE WHITE, ORANGE AND GREEN OH GIVE ME THAT BANNER, THE BOLD BOBBY CRIED COME GIVE ME THAT BANNER AND DO WHAT IS RIGHT OH GIVE ME THE BANNER AND DO NOT BE MEAN FOR I MUST HAVE THAT EMBLEM, THE FLAG OF SINN FEIN YOU'LL NOT GET THE BANNER, THE YOUNG MAIDEN CRIED UNTIL YOUR BLOOD AND MY BLOOD IT'S COLOURS HAVE DYED I HERE HAVE A RIFLE, AND THAT'S NOTHING MEAN BUT IT'S PROUDLY I'LL DIE FOR THE FLAG OF SINN FEIN THEN THE POOR BOBBY'S FACE TURNED AS WHITE AS THE SNOW AND HE MOUNTED HIS CYCLE AND STARTED TO GO SAYING "WHAT IS THE USE, WHEN A MAID OF 16 WOULD DIE FOR THOSE COLOURS WHITE, ORANGE AND GREEN" THE VERY NEXT DAY IN SWEET TIPPERARRY TOWN THAT GALLANT YOUNG GIRL FROM THE GALTEES CAME DOWN HER POOR HEART WAS TORN WITH ANGUISH AND PAIN FOR THAT VERY SAME DAY TOM ASHE DIED FOR SINN FEIN YOUNG MEN AND MAIDENS FROM ERINS GREEN SHORE RAISE A CHEER FOR THE MAID FROM THE PROUD GALTEEMORE AND KEEP ON FIGHTING THE CAUSE OF SINN FEIN UNTIL WE MAKE DEAR OLD IRELAND A REPUBLIC AGAIN. .................................................................................. There you go Gary, I've never heard the Ballad of Roger Casement sung as well as you do it, hope you like this one enough to record it some day, copyright my a**e. "the spirit of a proud people never conquered, never broken, patriots and heroes". |

Especially without a hint of proof or evidence to back it up. Best Wishes Gary Og having just read this I have to make one or two remarks. One is the fact you only credited maire mcnally with her work after you had been take to task for not doing so. Secondly let me explain the way copyright works the clue is in the word..............the right to copy, did you at any time ask the authors of songs you have recorded permission to do so? as only then do you have the right to copy their work. Thus recording something without permission is stealing copyright. And PS you did on a number of occasions say you wrote Pearse Jordan, you even told Maire you did and she challenged you in the Brazenhead in front of witnesses for doing so. |
