U2 frontman Bono said of his editorship "I have to confess, I'm not a natural editor... I want to start the countdown to next year, when Britain can change the world for the poorest people on the planet."

I admire this man for his music and all activities for the poorest. Really. But sometimes I think he is too optymistic. The 2005 year has passed, but problems remain. And I don't think that Britain or any od the richest countries would take care for the Third World. It simply doens't defray to them. Nowadays money is a god. Sad but true.

Do you feel he just perpetuates hype? sayin' "he" whom do you mean? Bono? Yes I mean Bono. I've been reading this forum pretty regularly since I joined and I don't say much on this site because I still have so much to learn. I came upon it looking for lyrics for the rebel music I started listening to a couple years ago. I really enjoy reading it. I always thought of the term 'rebel' as being synonymous with opposition. But I suppose a rebel without opposition could be one who has made enough of a difference to change public opinion or increase awaremess. I can't imagine there are many people who would oppose relief efforst in third world countries in priniciple, but it's true, I think, when it comes to monetary efforts people are less likely to do all they can. |
