I guess there are so many more you'll never ever get all of them.
Try Kazaa again later, you'll see many other songs. And actually, I wanted to ask someone if Eire Og and Wolfe Tones aren't the same group cause it often happened to me to download songs that appear to be by Wolfe Tones and then when I have them on my computer, the name is Eire Og, that's kinda confusing. So anyway, you can still download Wolfe Tones songs, in the end they might prove to be Eire Og. Slan agat |

afaik, they're not, its so that only one user did think, this song is from the wolfe tones, and few others uploaded it from him, and they didn't change the names, so more and more downloaded it (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I can't get here in Canada and Kazaa is still legal here so I download everything I can, and some of me M8's here send alot of stuff. I don't see it as ripping off any group, but as spreading the history of our land through song!

Hey, as you may notice im new to this site, as well as new to the irish rebel movement. I'm new because i never realy knew my grandfather or his past. but now i do, and he is gone, some one must keep the fight. i'm with you irelands son, i to live in canada, and find it hard to find any of these artist. i love eire og, but kazaa is really bad for ur comp, try like bear share or something. even still on kazaa it's very hard to find irish rebel music.

What does it take to be an Irish rebel nowadays? An occasional step on the soapbox shouting "Ireland unfree will never be at peace" and hoping someone on the other side of the world will notice?
Rebel, get real. Supporter perhaps at the most. Please reserve the word rebel for those who endangered their lives because they believed in an ideal and stop the deflation of the word! Vince |

Downloading from Kazaa in Canada may be legal a chara, but no matter what type of spin you put on it, it is still imho a breech of copyright, which is an illegal act. Not necessarily because it costs me money, it's not exactly lots btw, but simply because it is an infringement of the rights of the songwriter, which again, isn't me.
Part of the reason we have so many debates about who wrote what songs, is that very few people get access to the original material which usually credit the original songwriter. On this very thread we have an example of someone who doesn't know the difference between Eire Og and The Wolfetones. Apart from about 40 years, and a completley different birthplace, I would think both bands sound completely different. These mistakes are mainly due to the amount of sub standard, incorrect and innacurate songs available on these sites. The amount of times people have argued about which songs I've recorded, insisting I sing certain songs, which I don't, simply because they downloaded it and therefore assume it must be accurate. I think it is important that people get the credit they deserve for the songs they have written, and also get the monies that they are due. They afterall took the time to learn to play and write and compose these songs. Individuals such as Paddy McGuigan and Gerry O'Glaican do not get the credit they deserve for the songs they've written, and certainly don't get the financial rewards they are due in this day and age of downloading. This is the big problem. You are getting FREE access to someone elses work. Personally I am not completely against sharing music,I, however, did not write them, so, when you are passing around details from my cd's which contain songs by other people that I am legally bound to protect their copyright, then I must then ask the admin to discourage these links, and to discourage in general, this type of behaviour on the site altogether. To show that I am not just trying to stop you downloading my cd's, I will send you a cd free of charge a chara if you pm me. A cd on which the copyright has been acknowledged, and that the artists featured will get paid fairly. Is this a compromise? All the best Gary Og |

I agree with you Gary, as it is a violation. I can't say that I've not used P2P programmes, but I can say that I don't have much of the music I did have at the pc. The pc I'm on does have some of your music, but it was all from cd ripped to the library so I could listen to it without having to have the cd here with me at all times because I'm back and forth from the states so much. I can also say that I don't have a burner, so it's not like I was making copies. (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) The cd's from there don't work in the players here anyhoo. I stopped doing it as soon as I found out someone used my work also and they actually got the credit for it. So I get you there. I think it's wonderful that you'd actually send a copy of the cd, a cd of yours for free (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Anyhoo, as for people not being able to tell the difference between WT and EG ... that's kind of scary seeing as how neither sounds like the other. I love em both (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) as well as Shebeen, Charlie & the Bhoys, Irish Brigade, Christy Moore (Moving Hearts), Athenrye, Spirit of Freedom, Seanchai, The Unity Squad, The Dubliners, Seven Nations, Young Dubliners also, ... well .. as you can see the list is endless (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I could go a step further in saying that I just love music, whether it be our (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) music ... or music of other countries ... or even my own music (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) And no .. am not going to force the lot of you to listen to it lol (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Jesus peeps .. it's damn good to be back (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:/forum/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) |
