I remember a while ago now, knowing alternative lyrics to "The British Army" which went along the lines of :

When I was young I had a twist of punching babies with my fist, so I decided I'd enlist and join the british Army....

Thats the only bit I can remember, does anybody know the rest of it?

Cheers,
Andy

This one?

Join The British Army

When I was young I had a twist of punching babies with me fist
And I thought I would enlist and join the british army.

Too ra loo ra loo ra loo, they're looking for monkeys up in the zoo
If I had a face like you, I would join the British army.

When I was young I used to be as fine a man as ever you'd see;
The Prince of Wales, he said to me, "Come and join the British army."

Sarah Camdon baked a cake; it was all for poor old Slattery's sake.
I threw meself into the lake, pretending I was balmy.

Corporal Duff's got such a drought, just give him a couple of jars of stout;
He'll kill the enemy with his mouth and save the British Army.
Too ra loo ra loo ra loo, Me curse is on the Labour crew;
They took your darling boy from you to join the British army.

Captain Heeley went away and his wife got in the family way,
And all the words that she would say was "Blame the British Army."
Too ra loo ra loo ra loo, I've made me mind up what to do
I'll work my ticket home to you and leave the British army.

So the first line is the only line that's different then?

Thanks,
Andy

I have a punk verison of Fuck the British Army. The MP3 tag claims it's The Irish Rovers which I'm fairly sure it is not. It sounds more like Flogging Molly. Does anyone here know of the band who it might be?
Fionas
In my tag it's Paddy's Irish Clan

I know this is late, but the band Larkin plays Join the British Army which is pretty kickass, I also have a version by a band called Bonking Sheep.

Once again, the BA tries to shove its ugly head into a Republican forum while hiding behind a label of Cairde.
Tom, You are an asshole and nobody in this forum likes you or respects you. I think the thing that bothered me most was when you said while being in the BA in NI You had to show restraint while on duty there. I remember thinking... This Fuck has a loaded rifle with loaded ammo clips, in riot gear(I presume) has a few other BA buddies right next to him, and he has to show RESTRAINT???? What kind of fucking pussy BA moron thinks like this? Unarmed people walking about and this sissy in uniform is thinking about shooting them? Wow, Sounds so very typically British.
Bjorn sold this website to someone that broke up a very good relationship that some very old members had going. It has since been sold again to one of those old members. I expect to get my moderating abilities returned shortly and when I do, My first act will be to permantly Banish you from this forum Tom. As I said, Nobody here likes you or respects you. No need to reply, no one will read it.

Go Patrick! rolleyes.gif You're just right about him, no doubt about it. And Tom: people where just asking information about a song. There's another place on the forum where you can rant about politics. Look at your post. Just ridiculous. Weren't you claiming in some other post some time ago, you were interested in songs from both sides? Once in a while I cared reading your posts, but you're contradicting yourself constantly.
I suppose you don't learn to think in the BA? Just learn how to shoot? I suppose thinking before or when shooting is a luxury in the BA?

The same British Army that liberated Bergen Belsen?

Was this before or after they carpet bombed civilians in the cities? Was this before or after they refused Jewish immigration to escape the Holocaust prior to the war? Was this before or after the sniveling Chamberlain gave so much of Eastern Europe away? Was this before or after they initiated the use of concentration camps in South Africa at the turn of the 19th century?

Were it not for the U.S., England would be occupied today as are the northern counties.
