Is the best place for the Celtic music...Im from Glasgow and have never been to Dublin. Most of the Irish pubs up here aren't even Irish pubs anymore. I want Celtic music stuff like Eire OG etc etc..

Me and a few mates are going down there soon and Im just wondering where's best to start off..

When I went to Portugal to see Celtic the number of Irish pubs id been to and it was a mix of Scots and Irish singing dancing drinking with good Irish music, Sorta like an atmosphere you won't see on a normal night out, Im just wondering if there are any places in Dublin that are like that. lol im probably asking a bit much..

aye, I've informed me a bit, there is many a place in Dublin you have to visit

Observer, no idea about Baile Бtha Cliath, but I can show you some nice pubs in Moscow, St.Petersbourg, Kiev, Obninsk and Tula... And even in Warsaw - I was drinkin' there too

Midweek the Celt Bar in Talbot St. is worth checking out.

The Irish Brigade normally play some time at the weekend in Dublin, best to check the An Phoblacht website for listings.

Also the Sidewalk Bar in Cathal Brugha Street (just off O'Connell St) is usually worth checking.

Most city centre pubs cater for the tourist crowd which is heavily British and wouldn't appreciate Eire Og type music.

Yeah, I second The Celt. Always willing to give you a takeaway if you haven't had your fill by closing time!

Irish Brigade and Eire Og have played at Brazen Head awell as far as I remember, so check that out too.

The Brazen Head in Dublin is a great pub but only have trad sessions in there to my knowledge.

Aah the Sidewalk... how I miss that place! I saw my first Old Firm match there, followed by Shebeen. Come to think of it, my first live gig of Shebeen was on the night of All-Ireland Gaelic Football Championships in 2002, when Armagh beat Kerry. What a night it was, and what a gig.

I lived south of the Liffey so I used to frequent the "Hairy Lemon". Not for the music, but for the atmosphere. Very nice pub. Might have been on Drury Street. I remember there was a nightclub called "Break for the Border" nearby, the name of which always made me laugh on my way back home.

Bjorn! I have an idea for you - issue the "Celtic Lyrics Pub Guide" (15 euro a piece), based on this oppinions... Just think of it!
