Dia dhuit 2 all.

I have recently heard an alternate version of Foggy Dew, same track, different words.

It starts off with the lyrics: -

'The sun did dawn, so grey and cold, on Derry's empty streets.
Their valleys echo, one by one, the sound of marching feet.
But not a soul did....

Sorry I can't give more.
The song is a backing track 2 an 'upthera.net' video Entitled 'Irish Republican Media - Bloody Sunday'

Can anyone help me as to the origns of this tune?

Slainte in advance,

CH.

P.s. Tiocfaidh Ar La!!!!

Well, an original version of The Foggy Dew is about athe Raising in 1916. And you can find many versions of this song, sang by many bands. My favoutite is the one by Shebeen.
I don't know this particular one you've mentioned.
I'm wondering... I know several different performing of this song and most of them differ a bit in lyrics. Most often just one word replaced by another or something like that.
So what is the most original version of this poem? which one?
