Hard to say ao far. But I think it will benefit Sinn Fein in the next elections. Which might not be such a bad thing. Now Im waiting to see what happens

I was asking for the personal opinions of the members of this forum and not a generalised comment which can be read in any newspaper but thanks for the news

Not only am I a member of this forum, but I also live in Northern Ireland and I presented the feelings of the people here as I have witnessed.

This is also my opinion.

Apparently the newspapers you read have accurately described the sentiment of the people of Northern Ireland.

Perhaps you could be a little more polite next time you address me by the way. Couldn't hurt.

Grateful? I think not <_< We are trying to ignore you just like Tom. You can stand on your soap box and brag about how straight up the BA has been, but you neglect to brag how they act while 'protecting' the Orange parades in Catholic neighborhoods.

You say I neglected to "brag how they act while...". Indeed - I neglected a great many things. But I gave you the view of an Irish person living in Northern Ireland.

If by "the BA" you mean the British Army, then what about them? Do you expect the British Army to decomission all its weapons..?

As for the so-called Loyalists, I think we should take one step at a time here: Sinn Fein/IRA first, then we can get our devolved government back.. then we can deal with the other paramilitary terrorist groups.

I am from Belfast, I think the IRAstatement is a terrible and tragic mistake, can the people of ardoyne trust the police to defend them. 30 eyars war and all those deaths
and suffering, and time in jail for nothing. and if anyone can prove to me any
benefit from the so called peace process i would be interested to have it explained. (without the standard rhetoric)

Not going to happen. There are plenty of Irish soldiers in the British army, and this is their home. So why should they "sod off" to Britain?

What I mean is that Sinn Fein/IRA say they want to become part of a peaceful, democratic coalition government. I say let them prove their peaceful intent clearly. Once they have established that, then get them in government with the other democratic political parties, where they can discuss strategies to get rid of the other terrorist groups... the loyalist ones and the republican ones.
