Hi Everyone,
I am new to the group. I'm from NY and love Irish music. I have been looking for a song by Eric Bogle and have seen "close" versions of it, but not the one I heard on a CD of his. It is about the Christmas Truce when the soldiers left their trenches and exchanged photos cigarettes and wine. I can give you some of the words here and any other help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Sean
.....on Christmas day
On the western front, the guns all died away
Lying in the mud on bags of sand
We heard the Germans sing from No Man's Land
Words were strange, but every note we knew...
The chorus goes something like this:
Oh Silent Night, no cannons roar
A King is born of peace forever more
All's calm all's bright all brother's hand in hand
A soldier's song of peace from no man's land.
