Hi! I will be in Ireland from June 20th to June 28th... We will spend a few days in Dublin before we go to Westport... and so I wanted to ask if anyone of you know a good pub or disco or whatever in Dublin! Any answer will help :)

QUOTE(adutis @ Feb 23 2005, 09:58 AM) hey, i'm coming to see Ireland! i'll spend 10 days (starting 2005 September 26) in Dublin and Galway, so will use this info on right places in Dublin :) if ye have anything to add to this advice (also concerning Galway) please go ahead. B) Dublin: LAN already gave you very valuable info. - The Palace (it's fleet street IIRC) has good craic on Sunday nights (starting around 9 pm). - The Celt is fine, too, heard some good live music there. - mulligans is a nice, simple pub and claims to have the best pint in town - but absolutely packed on a friday. - If you are still able to walk after midight: check out the gaiety theatre http://www.gaietytheatre.net/ - they should be open until 3 am, 3 live bands (blues => latin), 1 or 2 dancefloors, ... very nice spot, hope they still do those parties, as I cannot find any info on their website. - the guinness brewery: once a nice little "museum", now a rather posh place, quite expensive - but you'll get an excellent (the best?) view over Dublin and a pint of Guinness is included ;). - you can also check out the Jameson Distillery. Go to the bar and try the Middleton Very Rare - an excellent whiskey!! (and don't ask for the price) - there's a "hop on/hop off" bus service. ticket is valid 24h and includes reduction on some of the admission fees such as the Guinnes brewery - mind the pubs in the area of Temple Bar - most of them are too crowded, the pint is poor and too many hen parties... Galway: I'll visit Galway in April for the first time, but I've got a few hints already: - The Quays: not as good as people might tell, but still worth a visit - Bar Cuba: it's more about jazz/swing, but very good if that's what you like - Taylors: very good - Monroes Tavern: was brilliant, is now a rather average country/western-like place - the whole quarter of "Spanish Arch" should be nice - Crane: very good irish music Cheers and have fun - I'll be in Dublin in April, June and maybe September or October, too. |
