Can anyone help me with the lyrics to this song? I dunno which is the proper name for it as I've seen it called both, but the chorus goes...
Give me the Irish Republican Army Give me the Green, White and Gold every time. Give me the Three-Leafed Shamrock of Ireland. A land that I love so divine. Send the English back where they came from (TO HELL!) Make our land ours once again. Give me the Irish Republican Army. To make our land a nation once again. |

Side by side, our heroes died, Answering Ireland's only call. All through the years, blood, sweat & tears, They fought from Cork to Donegal. Although they're gone, we struggle on, For Ireland united and free. So don't give in, for we must win For a land of peace and liberty. Chorus James Connolly, Cathal Brugha, Pearse and the brave Wolfe Tone, Sean McNellis, Bobby Sands, And Sean South from Garryowen. Armagh, and Derry, Belfast City, They still struggle to be free So Irishmen, unite again, To make a land of peace and liberty. Chorus |

I realised that I failed to introduce myself properly: I'm a non-Irish lad with the habit to ask silly questions about Irish stuff.
The question that intrigues me at the moment concerns the colours of the national flag of the Republic of Ireland. As far as I know these are clearly described as "Green, white and orange", but in many song lyrics the colours are described as "Green, white and gold". The question is obvious now: why is that? I just can't image that these song writers are colour-blind. Although I sleep quite well despite this pressing question (thank you), I definitely would like to know the answer. Vincent |

Simple it's green white and orange.
In footie, Celtic supporters of the thick variety call it gold because the can't see the significance of the orange. Dumb bassas  |

Dumb bassas  Yes the flag is green white and orange but there is a real reason why it has been called green white and gold. Read this so don't call people "dumb bassas" without knowing the facts!! :P |

Actually, I am against calling it "gold". I believe in Wolfe Tone, I believe we can unite all Irishmen regardless of their religion. And Wolfe Tone in my opinion has defined what true republicanism is. Anyway, we are not colour blind. Calling it gold doesn't make it less orange.

Literate Celtic supporters and Irish people call the tricolour Green white and Orange. Only bhigots call it green white and gold 'cos they can't acknowledge the protestants in the north. |
