The UVF occupying Garnerville yesterday. I dont see this mentioned anywhere. I dont know why, sorry if somebody has already posted about it, it sure got me angry. Its further proof as if it were needed of the blatant hypocrisy and double standards of the British Government. How can troops and police stand by and do sweet fuck all as they allow a group, which the British themselves have officially classed as an illegal terrorist organization, gather in broad daylight, in their hundreds, to forcibly remove people from their homes? If more than half a dozen IRA members were to knowingly congregate in one spot you'd have half a fucking battalion in place to deal with them. There'd be no "easing of tension", "evaluating the situation" or "gathering evidence" as the fucking PSNI declared they were doing yesterday; there'd be body bags in the back of Land Rovers, simple as that. It wasn't too long ago that British troops would kill on sight anybody seen approaching a suspected arms dump; that was deemed evidence enough of "terrorist" activity. What fucking more proof do you need of membership of an illegal organization than publicly massing in an estate and forcibly moving people out in the name of the UVF? Not a single arrest. Not so much as even an attempt to move the mob along. If the same amount of Republicans were to gather to peacefully protest the visit of a British MP, as did happen recently, you have a full fucking riot squad to deal with it. Double fucking standards. Fucking sickens me that the Brits will shoot dead an innocent Brazilian civilian, who was deemed a terrorist simply because he ran away from trigger-happy undercover narks, and yet here standing meters in front of troops are dozens and dozens of "terrorists", as declared by the British Government. Murderous fucking scum who in the last few days have set off blast bombs, fire bombs and murdered two people, yet they do absolutely fucking nothing. In a few days theres expected to be a new IRA statement. If this statement doesnt include full decommissioning, full disbandment, and fucking blowjobs for every DUP assembly member, all well hear about is how Republicans are stalling peace in Ireland. Fuck that. Look at what has happened yesterday and the past few days. Killings, bombings and mob rule. Orange killings, bombings and mob rule. Remember this day when Paisley is spewing his bullshit in a few days time about how Republicans arent going far enough. Sorry for the language, I just find it sickening. Sln. |

QUOTE(LAN') Ireland is a great place I am in no way trying to state the opposite. But Ireland is not everything. I lived there and I moved away to seek in my opinion better things. Ah I think we've come out alright after a couple of hundred years of occupation... :P I really don't get these people from other countries who feel their "heart is in Ireland" though. It's just pure romanticism in my opinion. |

God help any English "fans" who try to pull shit in Croke Park like they did at Landsdowne Road in '95. Whatever about Football and Rugby being "foreign" games, Croke Park holds alot of history, it's a symbol of Irish Nationalism. Don't need to remind everybody that the British Army shot and bayoneted dead 14 people there. It's no suprise to me that the Northern GAA Branches voted against relaxing Rule 42, they have more to lose from this. It's easy for people to rubbish the symbolism of sport as a national identity by saying "it's only a game", or "no one nation owns a sport", but the fact of the matter is that when you live in a state where your nationality is actively subdued and oppressed, you'll cling dearly to anything which allows you to express your own national identity, and the GAA does this. I can guarantee you if Croke Park was in the Six Counties there'd be no fucking way Football or Rugby would be allowed there. It's just that down South we don't have to live with any kind of identity struggle, and I think we owe it to those up North who aren't so lucky to keep Croke Park hosting Gaelic sports only. But what's done is done, I just hope things return to tradition once the redevelopment is finished. |

In my opinion these jobs are a trojan horse, a cancerous seed steathily sown, that whether intentionally or not, will further damage a language that is on it's final legs. I know Gweedore pretty well, it's where my Dad's from, and I remember the effect job losses at Fruit Of The Loom had on Gweedore. It's true that jobs were desperately needed. But if this Irish Government really gave half a fuck about the Gaeltacht it'd provide support and funding so that dars na Gaeltachta wouldn't have to stoop to such desperate levels. Why isn't the Government giving more support to the fishing industry in Donegal, an industry that has existed and strengthened the Irish language there for decades? Why doesn't the Government move more Government offices to the Gaeltacht? We don't need jobs that force English on employees when we have so many other options. |

Fuck Bush, I wish the cunt an early grave. An unmarked grave at that. For a "Proud American" who managed to avoid active service in Vietnam and never completed his time in the National Guard, that fucker sure has one hell of an appetite for war. Everything about George W. Bush's life is suspect and shrouded in secrets, from his military record to his election as President, he is one fucking bad joke. And the joke's on the American people, who are too mind-fucked by their own Government's propaganda to do jack-shit about it. Nobody should be under any doubt that Bush is after oil. Oil is money. Money is power. Pursuit of justice, freedom, liberation...they're all heroic sounding, morale boosting cover-words under the umbrella of the "War Against Terrorism"; a war that works wonders in brainwashing the US public and even most of the world. The USSR, Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein...all bogeymen hyped up to cause fear. Who'll be the next scape-goat? Every day we hear a "new warning of inevitable terrorist attacks on US soil", that "Al Qaeda are poised to strike again" with an attack "bigger than September 11".....all lies. Lies that create fear. Put fear into the population, they demand protection. They see their troops fighting and killing Muslims; the face and skin-colour American's recognise in their ignorance as the enemy, as those who wish them dead, those who carried out September 11. And so the American people feel safe, feel that Bush is protecting them...what does it take for the American people to wake the fuck up? This motherfucker supports Ariel Sharon; a sick, fucked-up individual who wouldn't think twice about destroying a refugee camp and massacring scores of innocent civilians in order to destroy "secret tunnels" or a couple of militants. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, an innocent baby Palestinian for an armed Israeli soldier. A man who will order a helicopter gunship to hover hundreds of feet above a car, blowing it to pieces with a missile regardless of whether it contains women or children, because they suspect the driver is a militant. We of all people should know what it's like to live under such power hungry individuals; men who will never heed the desires of their own people, men willing to subvert the democracy and people they claim to protect in order to gain positions of power. The only language they understand is the language of force, which is exactly how we should negotiate with them. |

Seems like a rare song. I've got sweet fuck all to do in college, so I've been looking for the lyrics for this song for ages...it is nowhere on the net! If you want to send it to me I'll give it a listen and see if I can make it out. I've no idea how you'd find the proper lyrics though...good luck! Sln sln |

In fairness now he was more a Frenchman than an Irishman. You're right though mo chara, Irish by birth. I'm no big expert on Wolfetone anyway, but he sure as hell didn't have to do what he did. |

Wolfetone was one of the greatest Irish Republicans that has ever contributed to our cause. He was a Frenchman, a foreigner. So you are in good company Irelands_Son. And remember that Republicanisms greatest enemies and traitors are in many cases Irish. Sln go foill a chara |

No I won't be down, and never heard of the Dublin Workingman's band myself, but if they're booked up for the Ard Fheis they must be decent enough. Have a good night anyway, always guaranteed at the Sidewalk anyhow. |

Sorry Daithi, keep forgetting to drop into the Sidewalk! I'm unreliable with things like this... Anyway, you probably saw in An Phoblacht, The Dublin Workingman's band are playing on Saturday 28th, as part of the Ard Fheis function, so maybe that's what your talking about? Haven't seen anything about Friday night. |

Does anybody find it strange how the PIRA were quickly blamed for the abduction, yet they dropped the charges if IRA membership when it came to charging them? Surely if Orde and the PSNI was so sure they were IRA members, there would have been no trouble in convicting them. Yet these men were smeared with IRA membership before they were found guilty. And funny how it came just as the UDA make a declaration of an extension to their "ceasefire". Yet again the IRA is made to look like they are dishonouring their commitments to the GFA, while the Loyalists are seen as being commited to peace. The truth is so very different. |
