I've always been too drunk to really care.. but it'd be nice to know since I know the entire song off by heart, but not the stuff that some people shout in between...

Low lie the filds of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free-birds fly
-something-something-something-FREE BIRDS FLY!
Our love was on the wing
-something-something-!!
We had dreams and songs to sing
-something-something-!!
It's so lonely, round the fields of Athenry

This is what I think they are,
Low lie the filds of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free-birds fly

[Hey baby watch the free birds fly]

Our love was on the wing

[Sinn Fein]

We had dreams and songs to sing

[The IRA]

It's so lonely, round the fields of Athenry

Strange really- I was in temple Bar - Dublin for four nights, sang this fine song in several pubs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Not one person sang the additional lyrics (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

Judging by your avatar, I doubt many SAS bastards would be singing for Sinn Fein or the 'RA

Whit- you think that temple bar was full of SAS men? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
Read my post- NO ONE sang that stuff.
No one does when it's sung at rugby and football games either.
Tbh- i've only heard the interjections sung in places like the barrowlands, Glasgow- which are generally full of plastic paddies, not actual Irishmen and women.

Well then come on down to Kilburn or somehwere in London, where it'll the last thing you hear before you get your Loyalist head kicked in.

Jeez- you're naw very bright are ye?
Loyalist (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
I'm typing this looking at a picture of Connolly wie the starry plough behing him. Listening to the Wolfe Tones singing "A Nation once again"
Eejit ye are- the fella next to me in temple bar had a "H-1981" sweater on- take it ye know what that's about (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
He didn't sing any of the ahem " additional lyrics".

Pity that you seem to think that the only answer to a difference of opinion is a kicking- that's what's the f'cking dobs think (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Tom you will find very few irish people go to temple bar to listen to irish music! It is always regarded by locals as being solely for as you put it "plastic paddies"! Wearing a t-shirt saying H-1981 does in no way mean you are Irish nor neccesarily know much about our history! I would wager that man was not Irish as no Irish people wear t-shirts like that around dublin! The additional lyrics are rarely sung! The schoolboys section of irish rugby games used to always include it and rather than "hey baby let the free birds fly" it was sung "fuck the Queen let the free birds fly"! I also remember at the last election here that a certain Martin Ferris TD of sinn fein was carried above peoples shoulders upon election and the additional lyrics were sung in full, i.e. not just the sinn fein bit which you may expect, this was broadcast live on RTE News. Now Tom I am trusting that even you would not be as ignorant or brash to imply Martin Ferris is a "plastic paddy"!?!

Cheers Sir. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
No I would not.

Tbh I've only heard the extra lyrics on Charlie and the Bhoys albums and from the Celtic away support.

The fella wie the T shirt and his pals though- I can't tell a cork accent from a Dublin one but his was an accent from the south.
